Rumor: Celebration to include trailer for Visceral’s Star Wars game, but focus to be on Battlefront’s campaign
We currently have scant details on Visceral Games’ untitled Star Wars game. However, if a new rumor is true, that may change at Star Wars Celebration in Orlando, Florida, which is slated for April 13 to 16.
According to Jordan Maison, the editor-in-chief at Cinelinx, Celebration will feature a trailer for the game, which is due out sometime in 2018:
So…Sounds like the Visceral #StarWars game has an actual honest-to-goodness trailer done. Should debut at #SWCO…
— Jordan Maison (@JordanMaison) March 18, 2017
However, the primary gaming focus of Celebration will unsurprisingly be on this year’s Battlefront sequel:
From what I’ve heard, bulk of #SWCO gaming presentation will be about #StarWarsBattlefront 2 & proving it’s a different/better game.

Furious Fan Boys editor Jeremy Conrad added that Battlefront’s single-player campaign will be front-and-center:
@JordanMaison yea bulk of SWCO is going hard on the SP campaign. Multiplayer stuff is being saved for E3.

Note that these tidbits fall very much into “the rumors category” for right now. However, it wouldn’t surprise me if they are true. Maison has previously reported accurately on leaks (for instance, he tweeted before Battlefront released that one its DLCs would focus on Rogue One). These details also sound like very realistic possibilities considering EA’s marketing track record on the previous Battlefront. That said, things may still change prior to Celebration, as it won’t happen for nearly a month.
This is also the first time I’ve seen a mention of a gaming panel at Celebration. An EA Star Wars presence has been confirmed for the event, but no details on a gaming panel (which has been present at the past two Celebrations) have been announced yet.
If I were to surmise, the Star Wars games panel could include developers from both the Battlefront sequel and Visceral’s game. Trailers could be shown off for both games at the event. At EA’s E3 week event in June, EA PLAY, Battlefront’s multiplayer could be shown off in a similar style to how Battlefield 1 was presented at last year’s EA PLAY. Based on the recent news regarding Respawn’s Star Wars game, I’m doubtful we’ll hear anything about that at either event. Of course, all this is just speculation.
I’m certainly very keen to see a trailer for the Visceral game. We’ve seen a short snippet of an in-engine shot and a few concept pieces (like the images above), but nothing else is really known about it. Amy Hennig, the creative director on the game, has teased that it will include an ensemble cast and will feature “the new stuff, the new characters, the new story, the new locations, the new creatures, the new tech.” There was also a recent rumor that indicated the game originally revolved around Han Solo, but the focus has since changed to a random smuggler after Disney decided on a Han Solo movie.
