Our first look at Battlefront II clone troopers comes from… the background of a Twitter image?
While we still don’t have an official image of clone troopers in Battlefront II, a community manager at EA tweeted out an image containing a very pixelated view of clone troopers in the upcoming Star Wars shooter.
The tweet comes by way of Battlefield community manager Dan Mitre—who’s down in Los Angeles preparing for EA PLAY. You can make out clone troopers on the screens in the background of the third image below:

And of course, with images like this one must zoom and enhance!

There are also two screens on the left with more views of clone troopers:
Besides some concept art of Kamino, this is our first look at the clones in Battlefront II.
While the images do bring us back to the age of dial-up Internet, a few things can be noted:
- The in-game shots are of a building inside Theed—possibly the city’s palace.
- I believe all the clones are wielding DC-15A blaster carbines. The ridges and bumps match the weapon. I don’t believe these blasters are the DC-15 rifle variant because the barrel appears shorter.
- The blaster on the spawn screen is also likely the DC-15A blaster, which probably confirms the above suspicion.
- To me, the clones appear to be wearing Phase I armor. It’s still rather blurry, though, so I might be wrong on that and they could be in their Phase II duds.
- The map in the lower left corner actually shows the geography of the world and isn’t simply radar-based like the first Battlefront. You can make out the hallway and the walls of the building.
- Players will apparently have three slots for abilities, as shown on the lower right corners of the in-game screens.
- The spawn screen (shown in the back left of the first image and left on the second image) matches the holographic aesthetic that’s been used in marketing materials so far.
- The spawn screen also appears to have four customization slots. As there seems to be three ability slots, I wonder what the fourth customization option is (the return of Traits, perhaps?).
I honestly have no clue what the abilities shown on screen might be; they’re just too pixelated. If you spot anything else in the images, be sure to let me know!
Mitre’s tweet came just hours after The Star Wars show revealed the first image of Theed in Battlefront II’s Frostbite Engine (as seen below).
We’re set to get a better look at both the clones and Theed this Saturday, June 10. The gameplay trailer for Battlefront II will drop sometime during the livestreamed EA PLAY kick-off presentation, which begins at Noon PT / 3 p.m. ET. A gameplay reveal livetream will follow that event at 12:30 p.m. PT / 3:30 p.m. ET.
No specific details on how to watch those events have been announced. However, it’s likely that the EA PLAY website or EA’s Twitch channel will be hosting the streams.
Battlefront II itself launches November 17 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Connect with SWGO on Facebook or Twitter to stay up-to-date on all the latest Battlefront II news.
It’s going to really irritate me when I see people saying “This looks better than the movies”.
DC-15A is a heavy blaster rifle, DC-15S is a blaster carbine. Duh…
I was initially under that impression, too. However, that naming scheme is Legends canon now. They revamped the naming scheme after a mix-up in The Clone Wars TV show.
