Battlefront dev explains lack of recent info; plus Disruption clarification
Battlefront’s lead designer, Dennis Brannvall, has been a constant source of information on the game. However, he’s been quiet as of late.
Brannvall took to Twitter to discuss his absence:
Apologies for lack of activity lately, we're on the home stretch of welcoming our 2nd kid to the family, so lots of non-dev stuff happening
— Dennis Brännvall (@DICE_FireWall) October 24, 2016
First off, I’d like to congratulate Brannvall on the upcoming addition. Second off, while I’ve never had a child, I do know that new babies can be stressful on both parents. With that in mind, it’s understandable that he’s been absent.
However, I do think EA/DICE as a whole could improve their communication on the game; it shouldn’t fall to Brannvall to take the lead on communication.
While we did get a sizable portion of information last week, we still don’t know when the next, much-needed patch will land. Additionally, we haven’t heard anything about the leaked Hero Blast mode or the bo-rifle. The Live Events Calendar also hasn’t been updated at the time of this writing, despite last week’s official blog post promoting the page.
Additionally, weapons designer Christian Johannesen had an interesting conversation clarifying Disruption. While not Earth-shattering news, I figured I’d share it anyways.
@OM_226 Intended against any weaponry that can overheat

@OM_226 In theory yes. Though since it would only really be effective at a range where the fighters are crashed wrecks, we leave them be.

I’m not personally a huge fan of Disruption, as I find other Charge Cards to be more valuable. Still, interesting comments from Johannesen regardless. Writing code to overheat starfighters probably isn’t worth the time, as the feature would hardly ever see use.
Anyways, that’s all I have for now. Hopefully we get information on an upcoming patch soon!
