Dev to “look into” Extraction hero bug that’s plaguing Battlefront (Updated)
With a number of hero bugs currently bedeviling Battlefront, it can be difficult to nail them all down.
However, hero designer Guillaume Mroz recently took to Twitter to respond to a bug currently affecting Extraction:
@SWBFUpdates I'll try to look into it. Thanks
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 6, 2016
This bug freezes the screen once a player activates a hero token on the Sorosuub Refinery map while playing Extraction. It does not allow the player to spawn in as a hero nor does it allow them to die and respawn as a normal infantry. Instead, the only option is to fully quit out of the game.
There is also an offshoot of this bug in which Dengar will spawn in instead of Boba Fett. While this issue is not game-breaking (like the first one), it’s still frustrating to see Extraction not work like the devs intended. I’ve personally experienced both issues.
I initially didn’t cover Mroz’s tweet because it is a minimal update at best and DICE (sort of) responded to this bug. However, I wanted to highlight an issue with the current situation of the game.
This particular Extraction bug has been in Battlefront since September, when the Death Star arrived. It’s slightly worrisome to see that it hasn’t been fixed locally for the dev team. With this in mind, it’s possible this issue won’t be fixed in time for the next patch. This could especially be the case should a patch arrive next week.
I don’t blame Mroz for this particular issue. Rather, I blame the bug reporting system EA/DICE has set up or the QA system currently in place for the game. With this bug being present in the game for roughly a month-and-a-half at the time of writing,
The lack of certainty regarding the next patch is also frustrating. Mroz’s tweet is the first communication we’ve had from someone attached to the game in roughly two weeks.
Regardless, hopefully a fix is inbound for this bug (and the multitude of other bugs) in the near future. I really do like Battlefront, but enjoying the game to its fullest can be difficult when issues like the one outlined above are present.
Update 10:20 am PT 11/10: Mroz confirmed via Twitter that this particular bug “should be fixed and is being tested.”
