LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been nominated for “Best Family Game” for The Game Awards 2016.

Developed by TT Fusion, the brick-building adventure game released June 28 for a plethora of systems, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment published the game under license by Lucasfilm.

Titles up against LEGO Star Wars in the “Best Family Game” category include Square Equinox’s Dragon Quest Builders, Niantic’s mobile title Pokemon GO, Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank and Toys for Bob’s Skylanders: Imaginators.

Meanwhile, Battlefront developer and Battlefront 2 co-developer, EA/DICE is up for “Best Game Direction” for Battlefield 1, which released last month. Battlefield 1 also earned nomination for a variety of other awards, including Best Music/Sound Design.

The winners will be announced Thursday, December 1 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles during The Game Awards show. You’ll have several options for watching the show, including Twitch, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook Live.

I’ve enjoyed playing LEGO Star Wars. The title retained much of the LEGO video game charm, while also reinventing and improving a few in-game features. It’s also cool to see a Star Wars game receive an award nomination. I hope it does well!

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the fifth game of a franchise that has collectively sold over 33 million copies as of February 2016.  The last Level Pack of its Season Pass released just over two weeks ago.

For most systems, it can currently be had on Amazon for under $40. The Deluxe Edition, which includes the Season Pass and an exclusive Finn (FN-2187) MiniFig, is a bit pricier.
