10 tidbits that didn’t make the latest Battlefront patch notes
Hopefully most of you are enjoying Scarif in Battlefront right now!
However, if you’re having trouble downloading the expansion, check out this guide. There is also an issue with Lando’s Power Blast, which the DICE team is aware of.
While those are both unfortunate problems, Scarif did bring its share of fun surprises. With that in mind, I figured it might be fun to look at some stuff that may have otherwise been glossed over. So without further ado, here are 10 tidbits that weren’t in the patch notes for the update:
10. U-Wing in menus
The Rogue One: Scarif expansion’s lone ship, the U-Wing, can be seen as part of the backdrop for menus. It’s not uncommon for a new vehicle to get added to the menu rotation with a new expansion, but it’s cool to see the UT-60D (as it’s known technically) in all it’s high-resolution glory.
9. A new challenge
The Rogue One: Scarif’s exclusive mode, Infiltration, bought with it a new challenge:
- Win 3 Infiltration matches: Help your team to victory in 3 matches of Infiltration
Completing this challenge will net you 250 credits and 2,500 score. Note that a particular challenge must first be activated before you can be rewarded by completing it.
Unfortunately, Accomplishments, which do not need to be activated first, did not receive anything new this time around.
8. Four new diorama statues
The patch notes did mention the four new diorama statues; however, it neglected to show their unlock requirements. Here’s what they are:
- TIE Striker: Play 25 games of Infiltration
- Jyn Erso: Use the Star Card (Sonic Imploder) and get a kill with each weapon (the A180 and DT-29) from the Rogue One: Scarif DLC
- Director Krennic: Destroy 25 U-Wings
- U-Wing: Destroy 50 vehicles playing as a U-Wing
7. Death Star DLC Star Cards in Skirmish
The Death Star DLC Star Cards (the Laser Trip Mine and the Medical Droid) weren’t available to play in Skirmish when that expansion launched. However, that changed with this update as both Star Cards are now usable.
I don’t know yet if the Sonic Imploder can be accessed via Skirmish because I still need to finish up those 15 pesky Impact Grenade kills. I’ll be sure to check back once I do unlock the new Star Card, though!
6. Boba Fett’s scan ping
While Boba Fett’s scan ping received a passing mention in the patch notes in reference to his trait, the notes didn’t go into full detail on the bounty hunter’s new ability.
Boba Fett now will passively scan roughly every 15 seconds. How far the ping scans, however, depends on Boba Fett’s trait level:
- Level 0: 5 meters
- Level 1: 10 meters
- Level 2: 15 meters
- Level 3: 30 meters
5. Hutt Contract and item unlock costs
Four new Hutt Contracts arrived with this DLC and one new item unlock also made its way into the game. The cost of these items, however, was missing in the patch notes. Here’s how many credits they require:
- Jyn’s Solution (A180), Krennic’s Offense (DT-29) and Grenadier I (normal Sonic Imploder) cost 3,500 credits each
- Grenadier II (upgraded Sonic Imploder) costs 8,000 credits
- The Shoretrooper Captain is a new body unlock available at Level 100. It costs 35,000 credits.
4. Vanilla hero trait names
The patch notes did include the details on the vanilla heroes’ new traits, but didn’t include the names. Here’s what each new trait is called:
- Luke Skywalker: Jedi
- Han Solo: Scoundrel Fury
- Princess Leia: Champion of Alderaan
- Darth Vader: Lord of the Sith
- Emperor Palpatine: The Master
- Boba Fett: Bounty Seeker
3. New Achievements/Trophies
This update featured five new achievements (on Xbox One/PC) or trophies (on PS4) that weren’t listed in the patch notes:
- Onwards! Get 30 kills with the DT-29
- What will you become? Get 20 kills with the A180 and Sonic Imploder
- The circle is now complete: Get to Rank 100
- I never doubted you! Win 10 rounds of Infiltration
- Disturbed tranquility. Play all new maps from Rogue One: Scarif DLC
2. TL-50 Secondary Fire nerf
The patch notes didn’t make any mention of a supposed TL-50 secondary fire nerf. However, the weapon has been changed in three ways:
- It does less damage against heroes and vehicles.
- Its maximum damage radius is shrunk slightly.
- The cooling flush mini-game after firing a secondary fire blast is now more difficult.
1. You can equip the Bo-Rifle right now
If you’re really itching to try out the Lasat-designed CJ-9 Bo-Rifle, it’s available to equip offline in both Skirmish and Missions. It’s currently unknown when the weapon will be available online (it’ll probably be a “viral pickup“); however, you should at least be able to pass the time by one-hit meleeing bots.
