This fan-made Mos Eisley-in-Battlefront concept is mouthwatering

A Mos Eisley Battlefront concept by Cinematic Captures.

A Mos Eisley map in Battlefront would make a lot of people happy.

Unfortunately, no indications point towards the wretched hive of scum and villainy arriving to EA’s Battlefront. However, that didn’t stop Cinematic Captures from recently conceptualizing what Mos Eisley might be like in Battlefront.

The crown jewel of the concept video is the fan-built Docking Bay 94 experience that I wrote about a few months ago. Docking Bay 94 allows you to roam Mos Eisley and see in high detail: a Millennium Falcon, some X-Wings, a TIE Fighter and Lambda-class Shuttle—provided you have a powerful PC, of course.

It’s quite clear Docking Bay 94 uses a different engine than Battlefront (Unreal Engine 4 instead of Frostbite), but it looks amazing nonetheless. I actually feel that the Falcon looks better and more-detailed in Docking Bay 94 when compared its model in Battlefront.

Otherwise, Cinematic Captures edited in a custom loading and spawn screens as well as overlaying the in-game UI. Cinematic Captures also posted an list of ideas for a potential Mos Eisley DLC (along with several nice screenshots) over on the game’s official forums.

This doesn’t indicate that EA/DICE will include Mos Eisley in this Battlefront or the 2017 sequel; however, it does peak one’s imagination. However, I would suspect that crafting a full-on urban environment by hand would be a bit more difficult than using the photogrammetry method DICE utilized for many of the current maps in Battlefront. Fingers crossed, though!

A Mos Eisley map was included in both of Pandemic’s Battlefront games. It was famous for featuring a docking bay with a sail barge. A cantina similar to what’s in A New Hope also made an appearance. The map was also home to Hero Assault, a mode that allowed players to select from the game’s wide array heroes in a massive battle.
