Battlefront: death trooper buff may be inbound; dev discusses scrapped Palpatine block & sequel feedback
While EA’s focus has turned towards the upcoming Battlefront sequel, devs are still responding to various bits of feedback on the current game.
To start, hero designer Guillaume Mroz acknowledged that Director Krennic’s death troopers may be “too weak” currently:
@LoloPol0 they are very lethal so they shouldn't be too long in the fight, but they might be too weak. I'll keep it in mind
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) February 27, 2017
A death trooper buff is something I agree with and—should there be another balancing patch—wouldn’t mind seeing happen. As hero guards (in general) don’t have regenerating health, they can sometimes be quickly dispatched during battle.
Next, Mroz also noted an issue that allows Darth Vader to block shots from behind:
@zdawg_256 alright, that's an issue. I'll write it down

Despite commenting on these suggestions for the current Battlefront, Mroz did acknowledge that he “can’t say” if or when a patch might arrive. He added: “[I] don’t know myself the schedule.”
Hopefully we will see at least one more balancing and bug fixing patch; there are certainly a few more bits to clean up with the current Battlefront. Saying that, it’s worth reiterating that such a patch isn’t confirmed just yet.
Moving on, Mroz also touched on the canned blocking ability intended for Palpatine:
@okse10001 fairly similar to the trait, giving you enhancement when blocking. So you would absorb and release energy
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) February 27, 2017
As Mroz wound up including traits for the six base-game heroes, I don’t mind that Palpatine didn’t receive this precise blocking ability. Still, it would be interesting to see how exactly the blocking ability functioned.
Mroz also responded to a couple suggestions for the upcoming sequel. Note that these responses do not indicate something will happen with the next Battlefront. Rather, they are just Mroz’s thoughts on a couple of community comments.
First up is this response about Ubisoft’s recently-released For Honor:
@JedFrog yes I've been playing for Honor. Awesome game.

For Honor has a fun combat system, but I’m not entirely sure it would fit within Battlefront (here’s a decent breakdown on how For Honor works if you haven’t played it yet). Even so, I do believe lightsaber-on-lightsaber combat needs some retooling for the sequel. It just doesn’t flow in the current Battlefront.
Finally, Mroz responded to this comment suggesting that honor guards (if they exist in the sequel) should equal their hero’s sprinting speed:
@legomijn interresting point. I'll keep it in mind
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) February 27, 2017
If there is a similar Star Card cooling system in the sequel, I can definitely see this being a viable complaint. However, it really depends on how the hero and honor guard system is built, should it exist in the next Battlefront.
