Battlefront producer touches on community’s role in feedback for sequel
Save for the recent rumors about Star Wars Celebration, news on the next Battlefront has been unsurprisingly lacking lately. However, a producer at DICE just mentioned how the team is considering feedback for the sequel.
Paul Keslin, who was a producer on EA’s first Battlefront (and is presumbly in a similar position for this year’s edition), replied to a question asking if the team had “listened to all the community feedback” in the lead up to the next game:
@Anofelah … not everyone wants the same things. And we can never please everyone. That said I'm excited to see how you all react later. 🙂

While not terribly exciting news, I think several things can be gleaned from Keslin’s words.
First, I’m curious what data the team is looking at internally. I’m sure there are numerous statistics on the current game that can inform the team for the sequel (on a very basic level, stuff such as most played modes or types of weapons used). Alas, I doubt we’ll ever be privy to that type of data, but it likely could provide a detailed look into Battlefront.
Next, it’s an important reminder that DICE (or Motive Studios or Criterion Games, the other two studios working on the game) can’t please everyone. I’ve been posting polls on Twitter in the past month or so and have noticed that there can often be polarizing results and replies. I also read the Battlefront subreddit and its official forums. Frequently, there are differing, passionate and valid opinions on numerous topics. I think that it’s important to carefully consider critique when the sequel launches, even if the game fails to live up to expectations.
Hopefully, however, the sequel will be able to deliver an effort that satisfies “that Star Wars craving” for a majority of fans. The 2015 game certainly offers areas of improvement, so fingers crossed the EA studios involved with the sequel can hit their mark.
I’m sure we’ll find out more about the game at Celebration, which will be held in Orlando, Florida from April 13 to 16. Recent rumors suggest Battlefront will be the gaming focus of the event and that the game’s presentation will revolve around its new single player campaign. However, these tidbits should be treated as rumors for the time being and not facts.
