Force Arena’s “next large update” previewed; casual matches teased

Darth Vader in the Force Arena trailer.

Force Arena will receive its 1.5 update in the near future and with it will come a slew of quality-of-life changes.

The teased tweaks are listed below (from this post on the official forums). Note that they are not final and are subject to change before the update drops:

    • Faction Based Rating Points & Levels
      • Players will have separate ranking points for both the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance. This should hopefully encourage players to vary their faction choices more. It should also improve matchmaking when playing as your least favorite faction.
    • Season Reward Requirements
      • After the next update, players will need to have played more than five Ranked Matches for each faction in order to receive end-of-season rewards.
    • Game Mode: Ranked Match / Normal Match
      • Normal 2 vs. 2 Matches will be introduced in the next update. This new mode will replace the existing 2 vs. 2 mode and will not affect ranking points. It will, however, allow players to earn Credits and Card Pack rewards.
    • Reward Changes
      • Pack rewards will be tweaked to fit more inline with the above faction changes.
    • Improved Matchmaking ELO
      • The ELO matchmaking score will see a formula tweak based on players’ faction and experience.
    • Replays
      • Players will be able to share your own replays through the Battle Log menu while also viewing moments from around the world in the Highlights section.

Personally, I’m most interested in the Normal Match. I’ve seen a fair number of requests for casual play, so it’s neat that Netmarble will be implementing that.

There isn’t an official date for this update. However, the Rogue One daily login event is slated to end April 12. As previously mentioned, that event is planned to end when the new update arrives. As such, it seems reasonable to expect the 1.5 update it arrive either April 12 or 13.
