Star Wars app adds an augmented reality K-2SO in latest update
If you couldn’t get enough of K-2SO when Rogue One came out in theaters, you’ll be able to see a lot more of the security droid thanks to the official Star Wars app.
In the app’s latest update, K-2SO was added as part of the app’s augmented reality portion. This addition celebrates the release of Rogue One on Blu-ray/DVD, which available in the U.S. right now.
To use K-2SO, simply launch the “Augmented Reality” feature from the app’s main menu, then scan your physical copy of Rogue One or The Force Awakens and select K-2SO from the list of options. He’s mostly static; however, you can get him to play a voice line.
Don’t have the app? It’s available to download for free on Android devices via the Google Play Store and for iOS devices on the iTunes App Store.
If you can’t try out the AR features right now, The Star Wars show has you covered in their latest episode (AR stuff begins at 2:07):
If K-2SO isn’t your flavor of AR, there are other options to try out, including First Order stormtroopers and flametroopers. Plus, there’s also BB-8:
Overall, while the AR feature is sort of a play-once-then-set-down type of thing, it’s still a neat concept and it’s fun to see how Lucasfilm/Disney implemented it!
