EA PLAY opening presentation penciled in; Battlefront II role unknown

EA just announced that the opening presentation for EA PLAY will kick off Saturday, June 10 at Noon PT / 3 p.m. ET.

This bit of information was revealed in a press release. Per the writeup:

[…] we’ll begin the weekend of EA PLAY with an all-new broadcast experience specifically designed for our players viewing around the world, with a live audience joining us in Hollywood. Be sure to tune in as we celebrate our amazing players and our biggest games of the year ahead.

EA’s “biggest games of the year ahead” likely indicates that Battlefront II will be showcased in some fashion during this presentation. Battlefront II has already been confirmed as being playable on the show floor for EA PLAY, which will run June 10 to 12 in Hollywood, California.

Besides the presentation, EA PLAY will also host the “EA Game Changers Creators Cave”, where content creators can “capture early game footage, edit content to share, livestream directly from the show, and to interact with our studio development teams.” Additionally, the onsite Player Fanfest will include “over 140 hands-on gaming stations, demos, live music and more.”

At last year’s EA PLAY press conference, Battlefield One took center stage and a portion of that game’s multiplayer was livestreamed immediately following the press conference. I wouldn’t be shocked if something similar happened with Battlefront II this time around, but I’m just speculating there. Hopefully we’ll learn more after Battlefront II is officially unveiled at Star Wars Celebration on April 15.

Star Wars games weren’t entirely left out in the cold at EA PLAY 2016. The short EA Star Wars teaser reel included our first glimpses of Lando and Bossk in Battlefront while also teasing Visceral’s and Respawn’s untitled Star Wars games.
