A “unique hero mode” confirmed for Battlefront II, plus hints on customization & no Diorama

While EA showed off Battlefront II’s signature Galactic Assault mode at EA PLAY last weekend, the game will also offer something for those interested in hero combat.

According to Battlefront II’s community manager Mathew Everett, the game will feature “a unique hero mode”. Per Everett on Twitter:

This likely indicates we’ll be seeing something along the lines of Heroes vs Villains or the mysterious Hero Blast that never arrived in the first game. Personally, I hope for a hero-centric mode that’s either simply a deathmatch mode (what Hero Blast would’ve been) or something more objective-based. I never particularly enjoyed Heroes vs Villains—the round breaks broke up the action too much. The other hero mode from the 2015 Battlefront, Hero Hunt, also wasn’t too much fun, especially when playing as infantry against the very powerful hero.

Of course, news that Battlefront II will include a unique hero mode isn’t surprising—Heroes vs Villains was a popular mode in EA’s first Battlefront—but it’s nice to have some confirmation. Hopefully it will turn out to be action-packed and engaging mode.

In other news, the Diorama from the last Battlefront won’t be returning. This comes by way of Battlefront II design director Dennis Brannvall, who confirmed that the virtual collector shelf won’t see a return in Battlefront II via an interview with Joe Vargas (also known as Angry Joe). Instead, the collection aspect of Battlefront II will be “tailored much more into gameplay” according to Brannvall.

In the same interview, Battlefront II producer Paul Keslin confirmed that there will be “artistic customization” in the game. However, vehicle customization won’t have artistic options, at least not at launch.

Battlefront II arrives November 17 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Keep up with all the Battlefront II news by following SWGO on Facebook or Twitter.
