Modder manages to import a custom model into Battlefront (Updated)
EA’s 2015 Battlefront may finally be moddable for PC users in the near future.
YouTuber clonetrooper163 recently posted a video in which a custom model had been loaded into the game. In the video showcasing the mod, the custom model is of a novatrooper, a now-Legends stormtrooper that originally appeared in the Star Wars Galaxies MMO.
In the comments section of their video, clonetrooper163 promised that model importing will “happen very soon” via a downloadable modding tool for Battlefront. Additionally, they hinted that a 501st model will be shown off at some point, which could be very cool.
You can check the mod out in action below:
Screenshot wizard Cinematic Captures also got their hands on the mod and posted a video of their own:
From what I can gather, the mod only affects things client-side, meaning that only the user can see the mod. However, I am uncertain if this mod will trigger any sort of anti-cheat software when used on public servers. Additionally, I’m not sure how this may affect any End User License Agreements tied to the game.
As usual, this mod is for the PC version of the game. As such, don’t expect the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One versions of Battlefront to be moddable any time soon.
