DICE has begun work on Battlefront’s Rogue One DLC
A few new hints suggest that members of DICE’s Battlefront team have moved onto the Rogue One: Scarif expansion.
Set to arrive this holiday season, Rogue One: Scarif is the final announced DLC pack for the game. Based around the upcoming film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, the movie’s protagonist Jyn Erso will be the Rebel’s hero while Director Krennic will feature for the Empire.
The first clue we have Rogue One work has begun is this tweet from Friday by the game’s hero designer Guillaume Mroz:
Sorry I've been silent finishing chewie and Bossk while preparing the next dlc. I'll try to go through your messages
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) September 9, 2016
While Mroz has been quiet since posting that tweet, it’s good to hear he’s now working on Rogue One.
Next, one of the game’s level artists, Daniel Cambrand, changed his Twitter bio to read: “Working on Star Wars Battlefront, currently the Rogue One DLC.”
All in all, it’s not very surprising that at least some of DICE’s team have moved onto Rogue One. With a major weapons test imminent for the Death Star, it makes sense that the next development phase would begin. Note that that the Death Star might still be getting finishing touches as it goes through the final certification process.
No specific date has been set for the Rogue One DLC. However, a December release is targeted. The movie premieres on December 16.
