PC patch rolled back in Battlefront; new fix inbound for Thursday
DICE has rolled back this morning’s PC patch for Battlefront because it introduced framerate drops in Heroes vs Villains.
The accompanying server-side update for PC was also rolled back.
Producer Paul Keslin announced the decision earlier today on the game’s forums.
“This means that PC players will not have the benefit of the server updates for now,” he wrote. “We plan to roll this update out to our PC audience on Thursday after we test the new client / server configuration.”
I have seen several reports of that the patch messed up framerates, both on the forums and on Reddit. This issue was especially frustrating because the PC version of Battlefront has been plagued with framerate woes on several different occasions since the game’s launch.
Thursday’s patch on PC does not have a specific time yet.
On the whole, this was a pretty quick response from DICE. Keslin initially acknowledged the framerate drops about three hours after the patch went live. It was then rolled back within four hours after the acknowledgement.
Still, it’s upsetting to see that the framerate issues keep popping up. This frustration is further compounded because PC users won’t enjoy the server stability fixes until at least Thursday.
In more positive news, players are receiving 5,000 bonus credits for logging in today. This is likely in celebration of the Death Star DLC’s launch for non-Season Pass holders.
