Check out 15+ minutes of a The Clone Wars mod for Battlefront II
The Battles of the Clone Wars is an upcoming mod for Pandemic’s Battlefront II.
It’s currently in a closed alpha, so you’ll need a key to access it. However, thanks to Elliot from BattlefrontUpdates, you can check out nearly 16 minutes of gameplay for the mod.
The mod aims to add some of the lore and characters from The Clone Wars TV show. I previously wrote about the mod over the weekend, and more info can be found on its Moddb page.
Additional characters include Ahsoka Tano, Plo Koon, Coruscant Guards, Senate Commandos, droid commandos and tactical droids. The mod also re-skins Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi so that they match their appearance from the TV show. Items like the Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannon and the DC-15a blaster are completely new to the game or receive updated textures.
Check out the footage below (note, of course, that because it’s still in alpha, you can expect bugs):
One addition I like is the content from the Umbara arc of the TV show. While much of the content appears borrowed from an earlier Umbara mod, it’s still cool to see nonetheless. I just finished rewatching that four-episode arc, which does an excellent job adding depth to the clones.
While the full version of this mod isn’t due out until next summer, I’ll be curious to see how it progresses. The Clone Wars was an engaging show that excelled at expanding the lore of Star Wars. It’s certainly awesome to see some of that lore carried over into a Battlefront game.
Also, I’m thinking of possibly starting a “Mod of the Month” series where I feature older mods. While Battlefront II has had some awesome mods through the years, I’ll try to showcase mods for other Star Wars games, too, or perhaps mods that bring Star Wars to other games. Let me know what you think about this topic!
I’ve also got some other (hopefully weekly) features cooking up that will—fingers crossed—be ready to start soon, so stayed tuned!
