Battlefront: Secondary fire, Stinger Pistol tweaks; plus Bo-Rifle teased

Sullustan with the TL-50, a weapon that uses secondary fire in Battlefront.

Thanks to Battlefront’s weapons designer Christian Johannesen, we just got a few clues regarding the game’s next patch.

With just over two weeks until the next update, Johannesen took to Twitter and answered some questions.

One of the issues covered by Johannesen pertains to secondary fire. Right now, the TL-50 and Bryar Pistol have a secondary fire method that deals heavy damage to both vehicles and infantry.

“The main updates is [sic] a fix where they did excessive damage to vehicles and the cooling flush skill game will be harder to play,” he wrote.

This is definitely good to see. The Bryar Pistol is especially pesky towards vehicles—it can take out AT-ST’s in two shots and can even one-shot ships in the air. Meanwhile, the cooling flush tweak will hopefully help limit secondary fire spam from the TL-50. Secondary fire can be especially annoying on the Death Star maps.

Additionally, Johannesen touched on the Stinger Pistol Charge Card:

A buff to this Charge Card would be most welcome. Right now, the Stinger Pistol is mostly useless, especially when you consider that there are more effective Charge Cards like the Personal Shield, Adrenaline Stim or Disruption.

Speaking of Disruption, a change is coming to that card, too. However, Johannesen didn’t go it specifics. He simply said: “There will be a tweak. More details coming soon.”

Finally, Johannesen teased the CJ-9 Bo-Rifle:

While this doesn’t confirm when the weapon is coming, this at least confirms that it is still coming. I’ve seen people worry that the weapon won’t make it in the game, especially because we’ve known about it since June. Johannesen previously confirmed the weapon’s existence back in September.

For those unaware, the Bo-Rifle is inspired by a weapon from the TV show Rebels. Gameplay has been captured by data miner Uninspired Zebra. From that gameplay footage, we can see that it has a unique melee compared to what’s currently in-game.

The same data miner also uncovered clues that indicate the Bo-Rifle will be a “viral pickup”. If this is the case, players must kill another player who owns the weapon in order to unlock it themselves.

The next patch for Battlefront is slated to arrive alongside the Rogue One DLC on December 6.
