Battlefront: Jyn & Krennic info soon; livestream confirmed & vanilla tweaks teased (Updated)
The promise of the Rogue One: Scarif expansion arriving to Battlefront is just one week away.
With that promise in mind, devs on the game were recently active on Twitter.
Perhaps one of the more exciting responses came from hero designer Guillaume Mroz, who confirmed that news on Jyn Erso and Director Krennic will be coming soon:
@Calebmuth1 will talk a little soon
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 29, 2016
Later, Mroz gave a more specific time frame of “the next few days”:
I will start talking about the new heroes and changes in the next days. Just have to not be in a place with 100 screaming kids.
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 29, 2016
I’d guess the info on the new heroes will be revealed via “Deep Dives” similar to what was done for Bespin and the Death Star.
Mroz also confirmed that a livestream for the Rogue One DLC will be happening:
A lot of questions I'm receiving will be communicated upon during the live stream for rhe release, don't miss it 🙂 can't give dates ofc
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 29, 2016
This isn’t too surprising as the three previous expansions had livestreams beforehand. However, with constant livestream host Dennis Brannvall off the project, there was some doubt regarding future streams.
Mroz later wrote that he doesn’t currently have “details on time and place” for the Rogue One stream.
Next, vanilla content was discussed. Mroz confirmed changes to vanilla heroes are inbound for next week’s patch:
@nbyrne00 @phatseejay @TearGasJazz @Kvasibarn @TheVestalViking I did add new things for the vanilla heroes. Hope you like the changes
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 29, 2016
This likely includes Vader’s multitasking ability, but not much else is known just yet. However, Mroz did note the previously mentioned Palpatine blocking change won’t make it in:
@LsOlding77 No, that will not be a part of the release because another change made it somewhat obsolete. I concentrated on other things
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 29, 2016
Personally, I’m not too worried about this as we don’t even know what the change was specifically. Regardless, I’m curious to see what Mroz did bring to the table. Purely hope, but traits for vanilla heroes would be cool! Edit: Traits are indeed coming to vanilla heroes!
Producer Paul Keslin also teased that the Rogue One update will impact Battlefront’s vanilla content:
@nbyrne00 @guillaume_mroz @phatseejay @TearGasJazz @Kvasibarn There are always some things for all players. 🙂
— Paul Keslin (@TheVestalViking) November 29, 2016
I also asked Keslin about future support for Battlefront after the Rogue One update. Unfortunately, Keslin had no news to share:
@leftweet Nothing to say at this time. (boring answer, sorry)
— Paul Keslin (@TheVestalViking) November 29, 2016
Some glitches were also confirmed to be fixed, including the multi-hero issue in Walker Assault:
@jakeott78 yes it will be in the patch
— Dennis Brännvall (@DICE_FireWall) November 28, 2016
Mroz also confirmed an issue with Bossk’s micro-grenade launcher will be fixed:
@mollycanada111 the glitch will be fixed in the next patch. How about other heroes getting a buff instead?
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 29, 2016
This was also an interesting response from Mroz:
@kc_brovlawski that's a possibility
— Guillaume Mroz (@guillaume_mroz) November 29, 2016
While this tweet above doesn’t confirm any changes, the suggestion would freshen Extraction up a bit. Hopefully the dev team is able to apply this idea!
Finally, Keslin touched on next year’s Battlefront 2 and confirmed (unsurprisingly) that no details could be shared at this time.
@Raymund72408142 We've officially stated we're making another game. That's about all we can say.
— Paul Keslin (@TheVestalViking) November 29, 2016
That’s all at the time of writing! I’m looking forward to Scarif and am excited to see what’s revealed in the coming days!
Updated 4:40 a.m. PT: Level artist Daniel Cambrand just posted this intriguing tweet:
Stay tuned for cool stuff tomorrow.

Perhaps it’ll be a “Deep Dive” as mentioned above? Or perhaps The Star Wars Show will have a sneak peak of Scarif. Regardless, we’ll find out soon enough!
