More Death Star modes confirmed for Battlefront, plus other playlist info

Chewbacca's fur in Battlefront's latest trailer.

One of the main criticisms about the Death Star expansion in Battlefront is that its playlist only featured three modes: Blast, Fighter Squadron and Battle Station.

However, that is set to change with the December 6 patch that arrives alongside the Rogue One: Scarif DLC. This confirmation comes by way of Battlefront producer Paul Keslin:

We don’t know yet what exact modes will make it. However, former lead designer Dennis Brannvall previously commented on the lack modes back in September. In several Twitter exchanges then, he hinted that Droid Run will likely make its way into the playlist. I also wouldn’t be shocked if Cargo made it in, too, but that’s just speculation for now.

Keslin also commented on a few other topics and noted that DLC playlists won’t be changing:

Keslin also playfully teased Hero Blast, which has yet to be officially announced:

Hero Blast was previously uncovered by data miner Uninspired Zebra. The mode is presumed to be a Season Pass-only playlist that features 7-versus-7 hero-only combat. Besides that, scant details are known.

Keslin potentially also hinted that there’ll be multiple live streams for the Rogue One DLC:

However, it’s also possible that “s” in the tweet above is a typo. Still, interesting wording nonetheless!

Yesterday, community manager Matt Everett stated that he had the first rough draft of the patch notes:

Nothing really revealing there, but exciting regardless!

Finally, level artist Daniel Cambrand noted that the “cool stuff” he promised yesterday has been delayed until Thursday:

A little unfortunate, but, at this point, an extra day isn’t too much of a wait.

Hey there! I think the new modes will bring a breath of fresh air to the Death Star playlist. I really like the interior maps so it’ll be great to be able to play them more frequently. Also stoked for the Rogue One DLC, too. Curious to see what the next few days bring!
