Data miner digs up PC split screen option in Battlefront files
Thanks to the work of data miner Uninspired Zebra, we have a new clue about Battlefront, offline play, and PC.
Uninspired Zebra posted on Reddit that a split screen option on PC “sneaked in” for Skirmish in the last update:
Note that Uninspired Zebra modded the game to get this to appear. The option for split screen is in the files, but not accessible in the stock version of the game.
PC does not currently have a split screen option in Battlefront like its console counterparts. What Uninspired Zebra uncovered could indicate that future split screen support is planned for PC.
On the other hand, it could simply be leftover code that was accidently left in. It might also be unfinished code that won’t be improved upon in the future.
As someone who owns both Battlefront on Xbox One and PC, I would love to see split screen come to the PC. Battlefront is loads of fun in local co-op, but suffers frame drops and is locked at 30 fps when playing split screen on the Xbox. PC shooters don’t often have split screen options (likely because one player would probably have to forgo the trusty mouse and keyboard combination), but I hardly see a reason for Battlefront not to have a split screen option, especially because you wouldn’t be competing against others online.
Still, I’m doubtful we’ll see split screen come to PC, although it would be rather cool!
Do you think split screen Battlefront will make its way to PC? Let us know down below in the comments or head on over to Twitter or Facebook.
I needed this.
I’m exclusively a PC gamer and basically the only games I buy are games with local multiplayer… but those are very rare 🙂
This would be an amazing thing to see added.
All games on PC should got Splitscreen mode if game offer it… :/
