Battlefront: Lando fix to need client-side patch; no date set

It was revealed today that the issue plaguing Lando’s Power Blast won’t be fixed via a server-side patch and will instead require a full client-side patch.

This information comes via hero designer Guillaume Mroz on Twitter:

The issue with Lando sadly needs a client patch too. I was hopeful too early for a server patch to be enough. It will come a bit later

Unfortunately, no date is set right now for a client-side patch.

“[C]an’t give dates on that yet,” he wrote. “A client patch is needed.”

Lando currently has a bug where his Power Blast glitches out and can then be fired rapidly.

Former lead designer Dennis Brannvall wrote last week that “we will try our best to get a fix” for Lando’s glitch via a server-side patch, but it looks like that unfortunately won’t be the case. A server-side patch is supposedly planned for a scoring tweak to Heroes vs Villains, but it is yet to arrive.

Brannvall also wrote on Twitter earlier in the week that a fix for spectator mode not appearing in private matches was due for Thursday, but that date has passed without mention of a patch.

Mroz also noted that “[t]he client patch will also include some balancing.” Additionally, Mroz confirmed the team is looking at the issue where a player controlling a hero will randomly respawn as normal infantry.

Other fixes inbound for the client-side patch include:

• Vader’s trait increasing enemy armor.
• Hit sounds not registering and visual effects issues with lightsabers.

Server-side patches only require DICE to push an update to their servers. Client-side patches, meanwhile, require you to download an update onto your system. They usually take longer to arrive than server-side patches due to the various certification processes required for consoles.
