Star Wars: Puzzle Droids out now for Android, iOS devices

Star Wars: Puzzle Droids, the brand’s latest foray into the mobile game sector, released today for Android and iOS devices.

Puzzle Droids is a match-3 style game similar to Candy Crush or Bejeweled. The twist, however, is that this game delves into BB-8’s memories to retell The Force Awakens.

To download, head on over to the Google Play Store or the iTunes App Store. The game is free-to-play, but gems can be purchased with real-world money. It was announced last month.

The game’s description per its store page:

Explore the galaxy with your favorite droids to experience the Star Wars saga like never before in a brand new match-3 adventure. Tap into BB-8’s memories for an epic retelling from his unique perspective of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The journey will feature familiar scenes and previously untold moments alongside exciting gameplay and interactive puzzle boards. You’ll even meet characters such as Rey, Finn, and Poe Dameron and take on the First Order. Are you ready to embark on the ultimate Star Wars puzzle adventure?

Puzzle Droids also promises that “iconic moments and previously untold stories” are showcased throughout its 50-plus levels.

The game is developed by Disney and Lucasfilm in conjunction with Genera Games. Genera has teamed up with Disney in the past for Frozen Icy Shot, another puzzle game, while also working on other mobile titles such as Gladiator Heroes and Cover Fire.

I’ve briefly tried the game out and don’t really have much to say. It’s pretty standard match-3 fare, which isn’t really my type of game. However, if you’re looking for Candy Crush with a Star Wars skin, this game may just be up your alley!
