Star Wars games among most-downloaded PlayStation titles for 2016
A couple of Star Wars games posted a solid showing on PlayStation platforms in 2016.
Battlefront, which released in November 2015, was the 13th most-downloaded PS4 title on the PlayStation Store in 2016. This information comes via a blog post on PlayStation.com.
Battlefront’s Season Pass also put up a good mark, as it clocked in at 10th among PS4 Add-ons. It’s showing there is even more impressive considering that it trails six Call of Duty: Black Ops III DLC items.
Moving on from Battlefront, Star Wars Bounty Hunter came in eighth for PS Classics. Bounty Hunter originally released in 2002 for both PlayStation 2 and GameCube. The title is an action adventure starring Jango Fett and it serves as a (non-canon) prequel to Attack of the Clones.
Bounty Hunter later saw a re-release in 2015 as part of Sony’s backwards-compatibility program for the PS4. Other Star Wars games under the PS Classic banner for PS4 include Jedi Starfighter and Racer Revenge.
Meanwhile, those three items fared even better during the month of December:
- Battlefront was the ninth most-downloaded PS4 title.
- The Battlefront Season Pass was the second most-downloaded PS4 Add-on (trailing the Final Fantasy XV Season Pass).
- Bounty Hunter was the fifth most-downloaded PS Classic title.
Considering that the Rogue One movie released last month, those results aren’t all too surprising. Battlefront also dropped its Rogue One DLC in early December, so that likely helped sell copies of the base game and Season Pass.
Venturing outside of Star Wars games, Rocket League took the top spot as the most-downloaded PS4 game. The Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars sequel was followed by Battlefield 1 in second and Minecraft in third. Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Tom Clancy’s The Division rounded out the top five respectively.
