New info on the Star Wars Rogue One VR experience

X-Wing VR Mission

Right after Dennis Brannvall discussed the upcoming Death Star DLC on Twitch’s gamescom livestream today, Criterion Games’ Pete Lake talked about Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission.

Lake didn’t say much more than he did yesterday during EA’s livestream at gamescom. However, he did describe a bit about how the experience starts.

“Before you even get to fly, you can sit [in the cockpit] and push all the buttons and see what they do,” Lake said. “So they’ll open the S-foils and then close them, they’ll make noise, you can close the cockpit.”

He also hinted that the starting area will feature AT-ATs set in stark white background similar to Battlefront’s current main menu.

“We have a whole area,” he said. “You can just look up at how big these things are. You can take your time.”

“It’s important for us with VR to take the player on a journey and let them get used to the experiences because it’s new,” Lake added. “VR is a new thing for everybody.”

Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission will be out free this holiday for PlayStation 4 users who own the PlayStation VR headset and a copy of Battlefront.
