Battlefront: 4X score event, Ultimate Edition & new artwork (Updated)
EA/DICE just announced what’s ahead for Battlefront the rest of the year.
The info below comes from a new post on the game’s official blog:
- A remarketed version of the game’s Ultimate Edition will be out in November. This version includes the base game and the Season Pass content. According to pre-orders on Amazon, it will retail for $40 in the United States. It also has a targeted release date of November 18. As far as I can tell, this is the version same as the current Ultimate Edition except at a lower price. I’ll do a separate post on this edition later today.
- A 4X score event and free trial of Outer Rim, Bespin and the Death Star will run from November 18-20. This seems planned to coincide with the Ultimate Edition’s re-release.
- The fourth DLC, Rogue One: Scarif also received mention. However, the post revealed nothing new, merely confirming a December release date and that “you’ll be able to discover characters, maps, and more from the upcoming movie.”
I’d also like to note that the post included artwork for the Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission, as shown below. However, the post states that you can see the official artwork for the new DLC, but it’s nowhere to be found on the page. I’ll be monitoring the situation in case we do get more. Edit: Note that the U-Wing does show up in the artwork below. I assume that means the ship will make it into the actual Rogue One DLC. However, because the artwork is for the VR Mission, that is far from confirmed right now.
Additionally, the post points towards the Live Events Calendar “to see what else is coming up in-game.” However, the Live Events page still isn’t updated for the upcoming months. Again, I’ll be staying up-to-date on this matter.
It’s also interesting that there’s no mention of the Hero Blast mode. Perhaps they’re saving that mode for a different reveal or it won’t release until after all the DLCs are out.
We also haven’t heard anything regarding the next patch. Hopefully we get news on that soon! That’s assuming, of course, that a patch will arrive before the Rogue One DLC.
Update 1:20 p.m. PT: The official blog post has been edited so that it does not reference the Rogue One DLC artwork. It previously read: “Get your first glimpse at Rogue One: Scarif with the expansion’s official artwork above […]” in the final sentence discussing the Rogue One DLC. This removal is probably to address the confusion regarding the X-Wing VR Mission key art being shown instead of the DLC’s artwork.
