Battlefront: New Hero Blast info, plus video of a modded, flyable TIE Striker

Battlefront is still lacking Hero Blast. However, thanks to data miner Uninspired Zebra, we have a few more details.

These first details come from Uninspired Zebra via Reddit.

First, it appears that the DICE team has worked on the mode since the Death Star update; the mode has received changes since Uninspired Zebra previously looked at the code.

Next, Hero Blast supports the three Scarif ground-based maps: Scarif Jungle, Scarif Beach and Landing Pad 13. This further supports the idea that DICE has worked on the mode:

It also appears that it’s keeping it’s six-versus-six format, despite the seven heroes for each faction currently in-game. This isn’t too surprising as six-a-side is a nice round number compared to seven-a-side.

Finally, the mode has a cool new feature image of Jyn facing off against Boba Fett on Scarif:

This information provides hope that Hero Blast might indeed arrive to Battlefront. Most recently, producer Paul Keslin didn’t inspire much confidence during the Rogue One: Scarif livestreams.

“I think people happen to find references to something that we were working, but haven’t fully developed,” he said last Friday. “Sometimes things that we throw in there won’t always come out, so we don’t know [about Hero Blast]. There’s no official statement on Hero Blast, other than it’s a thing that we’ve been playing around with. If and when it comes out, we’ll let you know ahead of time.”

However, the recent findings of Uninspired Zebra certainly seem to indicate that DICE hasn’t fully forgotten the mode. Fingers crossed for an update soon!

That’s not all Uninspired Zebra dug up. The data miner also managed to mod Battlefront so that a pilotable TIE Striker spawned.

A couple of things to note: it’s probably unlikely DICE will implement the TIE Striker has a pilotable vehicle. For starters, it’s not really meant for space combat (although they can fly in space). Also, the TIE Striker is upside down in the video; this could be because the primary model for the ship is in its docking position in-game.

Uninspired Zebra noted that they forced the TIE Striker model to load on top of a standard TIE Fighter, which is why the laser placement is off. The data miner also simply loaded abilities from the TIE Interceptor.
