Battlefront server update planned for tomorrow (Updated)
A server update is set for tomorrow in Battlefront, according to DICE’s Jeff Braddock.
Braddock, who is the community manager for the Battlefield franchise (but occasionally pulls double duty on Battlefront), posted on the official forums:
We will be performing a server update and maintenance on January 5th. During this time, multiplayer features will be unavailable for 1 hour per platform, as noted below:
PC: Multiplayer will be offline for 1 hour starting at 09:00 UTC/ 1AM PT.
PS4: Multiplayer will be offline for 1 hour starting at 09:30 UTC/ 1:30AM PT.
Xbox One: Multiplayer will be offline for 1 hour start at 10:00 UTC/ 2AM PT.
No further details were posted as to what this update will fix/change. It seems plausible that Heroes vs Villains will be reverted to its first-to-five format. Unfortunately, Lando’s Power Blast issue may not be fixed. Back in December, hero designer Guillaume Mroz wrote on Twitter that a client patch would be needed to fully fix Lando.
Regardless, hopefully this server update will squash a few issues that continue to plague the game as we wait for a full client-side patch.
Update: This server patch will indeed change Heroes vs Villains, but not fix Lando. Per producer Paul Keslin:
The server update will fix a crash bug and return HvV to 5 rounds. Lando fix needs a client patch. @SWBFUpdates @DICE_FireWall @EAStarWars
