Force Arena adds two 40th Anniversary units for May the 4th

Concept art by Ralph McQuarrie.

As part of the May the 4th festivities, mobile game Force Arena has added a pair of 40th Star Wars Anniversary units.

Those units are based off a Ralph McQuarrie concept art for the original Star Wars movie (shown above) featuring Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker.

The two units are both legendary versions of Luke and Vader. You’ll be able to collect them until May 18. There is also a limited duration mission that can help unlock these characters.

Here is the description for the new Luke character:

On the 40th Anniversary of the birth of Star Wars, 40th Anniversary Luke Skywalker joins the Rebel Alliance! This special character was designed by Ralph McQuarrie, whose concept art helped designed the base of the Star Wars Universe. Although this character was originally penned as Deak
Starkiller, his name was changed to Luke Skywalker once the script for the movie had been completed. This character has a completely different visual aesthetic compared to Luke Skywalker. The Laser Duel concept art styles Luke with a respirator, and a thin yellow lightsaber. Take 40th Anniversary Luke Skywalker into the battlefield now!

And then the new Vader’s description:

40th Anniversary Vader is also based on the ‘Laser Duel’ concept art by Ralph McQuarrie. This version of Darth Vader is inspired by Japanese Samurai. His crude lightsaber is blue, which is a significant step away from the red lightsabers we now see from the Sith. His movements are much more agile than the Darth Vader we know. Let the Rebels remember the original face of the Galactic Empire by bringing 40th Anniversary Vader to the battlefield.

In addition, there is a seven-day May 4th login event that runs until May 14. The big reward for this event is a diamond card pack.
