Fans are working on remastering Republic Commando
Republic Commando, which released in 2005, is a classic game for many Star Wars fans.
The game told the story of a squad of Clone commandos as they fought in several conflicts during the Clone Wars. It bought a gritty and engaging look at the Clone Wars era.
Unfortunately, Republic Commando hasn’t seen a sequel nor a remaster in those 12 years since release. However, some fans are working on changing that.
The folks at Blackout Studios have begun crafting assets for Republic Commando in Unreal Engine 4. It’s still very early in developments, but things look snazzy so far:

The battle droids also look nice:

There’s even a nifty droideka roll animation:

There’s not much further information (such as release plans or how this fits in with the original game), but I really like what I see so far.
As will all these fan projects, a cease-and-desist request is always worrisome. Hopefully this project will end up being some sort of mod for the original Republic Commando (which can be picked up for PC on Steam) to avoid any potential conflicting interests.
To follow along with the project’s progress, Blackout Studios is on both Twitter and YouTube. To quote a one Sheev Palpatine, “We will watch your career with great interest.”
