EA confirms no current plans for Hero Blast in Battlefront

The future of Hero Blast in Battlefront doesn’t look bright.

A recent tweet from the official EA Star Wars account confirmed that the previously-datamined hero mode is not part of the team’s current plans for the 2015 edition of Battlefront.

Here’s the exact conversation:

While unfortunate, it’s not exactly shocking. At this point, those hoping to see the mode in Battlefront (which was intended to be six-versus-six hero action with rules similar to regular Blast), might want to look towards the sequel coming out later this year.

Despite the sobering news, Battlefront’s community manager Mat Everett noted on the official forums that community requests are still being considered for the current Battlefront.

“We unfortunately have nothing to share at this time [about future plans],” he said. “But the team is still looking at the most recent bug reports and balance issues and community requests.”‘

Coupled with hero designer’s Guillaume Mroz responses to bug-fix requests on Twitter, it seems reasonable to expect a minimal patch at some point that focuses on cleaning up a few bugs.

Bonus XP events have also been confirmed for the future, but EA has yet to announce any dates.

It’s not clear what Everett meant by “community requests.” I suppose it’s possible something more might be added to the current Battlefront, but I’ll wait until we get a more solid official response before making that claim.
